"Hi, I'm John, now over forty years in the IT industry. I currently lead a team creating networking solutions for global/multinational customers on behalf of large telecoms and technology companies, I'm also global technical lead for our Cisco partner program activities.
My background is electronics engineering and systems design, mostly signal acquisition/processing hardware and software, lots of software, mostly in assembler and C, things like domain specific languages, operating systems, security, real time, communications etc.
I first became involved in networking 'by accident' when I designed an Ethernet transceiver for the military, back in the days of fat yellow coax, it was for submarines and warships, the shock testing was quite violent.
I've worked with Cisco products since 1990, and led our effort to become a Gold partner in the UK, later replicating that in other countries.
When Cisco acquired Meraki, it looked like a great fit for us. Early in 2014 I somehow got a call with Todd Nightingale who invited us to become a Meraki MSP. Later that year won our first Meraki project, a global store network for a luxury fashion house.
Since then I guess I've been an evangelist for doing things the 'Meraki way', optimising our end-to-end design, deployment and operation of Meraki-based solutions.
As well consulting with customers and the Cisco partner program activity, I work on analytics and automation using the APIs of Meraki and other vendors."
