SSID to Meraki vMX (Azure)

Hello,

Before I buy any Meraki license i try to figure out about a few things.

I have a few remote sites, where Cisco Meraki MR44 are. We would like to use 802.1x authentication to wifi. It is possible to establish SSID Tunneling to vMX (running in Azure)? There is Network Policy Server installed also in Azure.

I can't find any exact information about vMX, I know its possible using physical MX appliance but we want to secure our traffic and send it straight to NPS and avoid our MX in HQ.

Is there any difference between MX and vMX?

I have never saw vMX for this use case. Here you can find some common use cases:

But in my opinion it's more expensive than a physical appliance.

What do you exactly mean its more expensive than physical appliance?

The second way is to purchase 11 physical appliance (or other vendor firewall, 11 because currently we have 11 remote branches) and establish IPsec VPN straight to azure (besides HQ). Currently we can only create a tunnel from MR to physical MX (using other vendor ist not possible) - thats why we thought virtual appliance might be a good idea.

It looks much expensive than vMX.
