IOS XE Image Upgrades for Monitored Catalyst Switches: Early Access Available Now!

We are thrilled to announce the availability of early access to IOS XE image upgrades for monitored Catalyst switches!

Now, you can upgrade the IOS XE version on a monitored Catalyst switch using a simple, centralized interface on the Meraki dashboard. You have the option to start the image upgrade immediately or to schedule it for a specific software maintenance window. Additionally, you can change or cancel a scheduled upgrade.

For more information about this feature and its prerequisites, please visit:

https://documentation.meraki.com/Cloud_Monitoring_for_Catalyst/Getting_Started/IOS_XE_image_upgrades...

The early access program (also known as our beta program) allows you to beta test this feature. To participate, simply log in to your dashboard and select the organization you would like to opt in. Then, go to Organization > Early Access and use the opt-in toggle to enroll your organization in the program. Once opted in, you'll immediately have access to the image upgrade feature.

To schedule upgrades, navigate to Organization > Firmware Upgrades, click on 'Schedule Upgrades', and then select 'Cloud Monitored' to view your monitored Catalyst devices and their upgrade availability.

Great feature !

However am I missing something ? This is called "monitored mode" but you can manage it ( a.k.a upgrade the IOS ). Not complaining , just wondering if we can still call that "monitor" mode. Or I'm simply (easily) confused 😅

I guess they're looking at it as that inbetween point of performing routine maintenance without needing to run the switches in full meraki-managed mode which might be overkill for many? Personally a big fan of this enhancement and it will be good to see how it goes once it's fully fleshed out with things like topology-aware upgrading

You can monitor the upgrade and see if it works or not.  If it doesn't then... 🤔
