Meraki MG - RSRQ periodic oscillation (daily)

Hello Meraki team 🙂,

I am trying to understand the behavior of my MG RSRQ,

I can clearly see a daily cycle, where signal has a great quality at night, and a bad quality at daytime :

The MG is not moving, and it is positioned in my home (office room),

Do you have the same behavior with your MG ? Is this a normal behavior ?

Thanks for your help team !

The only things you can do is put the MG where you get the best signal, or try a different cell provider as there won't be an even spread of users.

I'm in the UK, at my old house Vodafone or O2 were the best, whereas in my current house Three provides a much faster and more stable connection.

@xaviervalette are you in an area with quite a few other people within 1km or so?  It is completely normal that the signal will degrade as more people use the cell tower (generally in the day time).  If not, then I would expect a more constant signal.

@cmr thanks for your reply 🙂, indeed I am in an housing estate, so that would make sense,

Any best practice to mitigate the quality loss ?

Bonjour Xavier ,

I also have observed the same behavior across Canada , even in some distant part of the region :

This is a network close to my home in a distant village of a population of 4-5K, but we are all on the same cell towers.

During grad school I had an apartment located in the city centre, rather close to a street with a lot of bars adnd nighclubs.

At one time, I was working on a university project where we'd measure cellular availability, and usage on a 4G LTE frequency of one of the major ISPs in Denmark.

We could clearly see an increase in unsage during during the weekend around between midnight and 2am. Around the time where all the drunk people probably were calling a cap or their ride home. 😉
