MG52 as Backup Internet on MX105

Hello

I am using both WAN ports on MX105 as WAN1 main and WAN2 as backup internet, now i am looking to replace my WAN2 to MG52 Cellular internet backup, I never used or configured MG before so i am not sure what is best way to setup, i guess i need SIM for Cellular connection, and connect one port from MG to MX WAN2.

do i need any special type of SIM for that or any 4G or 5G SIM will work? any special setting on MX105 side as its already configured to switch over when WAN1 goes down.

Hi ,

MG52/MG52E Supports eSIM , so you don't need a physical SIM. However if you want to use a physical SIM you have to get a nano SIM. 4G,LTE,5G will work just fine.

You don't need extra configuration versus your WAN2 configs that you have at the moment.

Hell @RaphaelL  Do i need unlimited data on that eSIM or SIM and do i need to tell Service provider that where i am using that SIM?

No, the ISP doesn't need to know ( and doesn't care ) how you use the SIM.

For the data plan , I can't really suggest anything since I don't know what kind of usage you should expect montly. Since this is a failover link I don't think unlimited is the best option.

From memory, if you use it for failover only, it consumes 100MB of data per month for WAN link monitoring.
