I wonder if anyone else is seeing apps really slow to push today. We push 4 apps on the basic phone setup and I've been waiting 20 minutes without seeing any come through. It's possible the App Store is slow with all the new iPhone 14s out today. Anyone else seeing this delay?

I'd seen it on iPad devices before where even the device didn't know its CTN and read on some forums that it was an effect of data only plans and eSims because a data only device the user doesn't need to know the phone number. As a result, I've been popping physical sims into most of our iPads. I did do a new iPad Pro earlier this week, used the eSIM and both the device and System Manager picked up the number, so I'm wondering if it was a recent fix in iOS? I do see one 9th Generation iPad on my list using eSIM and not showing CTN in System Manager. I'm going to try pushing an iOS update and see if it resolves. If not, I will open a case. As we see Apple moving more toward the eSim, this is going to become a greater problem. The data element we use to look up a device with the carrier is the Phone number, subscriber number or CTN. However, on data only plans (such as for iPads), the phone number is not captured by the MDM if the eSIM is used. Anyone find a way around this?

According to Apple, the system should not lock if plugged into vehicle power and actively navigating. Upon further investigation, we have a couple things that may be throwing a monkey wrench into the mix: 1) User may be using Google Maps instead of Apple 2) User may not be plugged into power. So I'm allowing tablets to have auto-lock set to 'Never' and Phones I'm requiring lock in 5 minutes. I think y'all are right, this is more an iOS issue than Meraki. And no, there's no way I'm jail breaking our phones. 😄

I thought that default behavior of most phone, both iOS and Android, was to not lock when actively being used for navigation. We are using iOS devices. We have a passcode policy set with the 'Auto-Lock Max' set to 10 minutes. Expected behavior was 10 minutes if NOT plugged into the vehicle and being used for nav. Actual behavior is the dang device goes black every ten minutes and requires unlocking. This is horrible condition when most of our users are truck drivers running navigation, InCab, etc on their iOS tablets. Is there another setting in either System Manager or iOS that I'm not aware of which I need to use?

Just a non-technical question from someone who's moving from 'managing by spreadsheet' to Meraki MDM. We are strictly iOS devices, all company owned and all company responsible lines. When I was managing by spreadsheet, I would simply highlight in red a line that was "vacant" (unassigned) if an employee left. What are some of your methods for keeping up with vacant/unassigned numbers? My first thought was to assign an owner of 'vacant' to the device in Systems Manager, but since vacant doesn't have an email address I can't create that owner.

I don't see how having to wipe the device remotely is an acceptable solution to this. I have a dozen of these in the field that just say 'Assigned'. I really don't want to have to remote wipe 12 people's phones for this. What is the root cause?

We're fairly new to the platform, but yes this is incredibly annoying. Everyone I have moved to Meraki MDM has a "profile missing" but all the profiles I have assigned are in place.

Just in case someone else someday has the same question: In Apple Business Manager, In the 'Devices' view, if you select 'All Devices' there is an option to download a .csv file of your full DEP device list which includes both Serial Number and IMEI (labeled 'Device_ID') Thanks for the responses.

The trouble is, that's not available for the devices where the profile hasn't been pushed. It's been assigned on the DEP view, but they don't show up on the devices page until we reset those iPhones. My intention was to do small groups at a time, but I wanted to have the owners assigned to their appropriate devices before I started resetting phones.

We're new to Systems Manager and just got a bulk load of devices purchased over the past several months loaded by our Carrier into DEP. Nice. The problem is, the carriers use IMEI as the primary device identifier and don't have Serial Number anywhere. Systems Manager, on the DEP page gives me a long list of serial numbers. I don't see any way to know which device to associate with a particular owner because of this disconnect. Anyone else run into this issue and have a good solution?
