Thanks @DJDonovan, That shift select when working with Meraki SM could have saved me so much time over the years 😁 The (deselect all) should somehow be highlighted more; may have caused an issue once or two. Thank you, Peter James

We had one customer that logged quite a number of connectivity issues over a number of months. After several prior site visits and the customer using their own engineer to try to work it out, I put on my Meraki hat (ok, no hat!) and requested one of our senior engineers to attend site with me remote. Working together we mapped out the estate and found a dozen more Meraki AP's that I had not listed. It turns out the customer installed their own Meraki AP's for customer use (ours was for EPoS) and in the logs I could see they were trying to work on the same channels and blacklist us. Ok, instead of going all cowboy duel on them (we would have won!) we agreed separate channels and to not block each other (I may have turned on blacklisting all their AP's for amusement). Interesting how they just assumed they needed to keep things separate for legislation (DSS PCI) purposes. You would think this was the end of it, nope. We spoke to the staff on site to find out where the problem hot spots were and it was in a new area they opened up six months ago! A "hard" hmmm ensued and so did a few calls to certain people; "Why was I getting slack for a NEW EXPANSION?!"....anyway, long story short we re-did our WiFi survey and advised what was required. Long story short...sometimes you just need a little more communication.

Hi @SimonA1 , Have you looked at improving the accuracy settings on the iPad itself? See https://support.google.com/maps/answer/2839911 We had the same idea, but unfortunately due to the lag in response, by the time we have been made aware that the device has left the premise it is too late. It is also worth noting, that having location on constantly can drain the battery quite quickly. An idea we moved on to was using Bluetooth beacons from the Meraki Access Points, but we never progressed this. The idea was to have a constant ping running to and from the device via an app, but again by the time you realise the device is off premise it is too late. The reason for Bluetooth over WiFi, is that Bluetooth uses less power. The non-technical approach, if you can do this, is to simply to give end-users their own device, making them responsible for it. Or install some physical anti-theft tagging system, like clothing stores have, which comes at a cost but is a low tech way to protect valuable goods. Eventually we just purchased low-end / cheap Android devices that did the job and just expected some would go for a walk and never return. £399+ iPad vs £70 Android Device; which would you prefer to lose... Thank you, Peter James

The support team would advise you to make a wish. Alternatively, you would need to speak to your Meraki account manager, who would then raise a change. However, understanding what is the "new normal" is probably top of the agenda right now. Many companies will either not be back or will choose to operate at a much smaller size....see it can be just as profitable...and not return to their previous size.

Good Afternoon, I was wondering if anyone here could shed some light on if Meraki equipment are affected by the content mentioned below? https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/sweyntooth-bug-collection-affects-hundreds-of-bluetooth-products/ Thank you, Peter James

Hi @HuggyBear , Removing both white/black lists will show if this is the part related; sometimes vendors put in their own bloatware/apps and trying to figure out these apk package names is sometimes a nightmare. If this is the case...the above also explains what you need to figure out 🙂 Thank you, Peter James

Apple and Cisco walk in to a bar...moments later engineers turn up to install additional access points. Apple and Cisco walk in to three bars....unhappy with their service, they build a FastLane. Apple and Cisco now own all the bars!

Hi, Clicking the 'Architectures and Best Practices' link (very top, right of home) on the following pages pushes you to a Salesfoce login page. This does not seem right... https://documentation.meraki.com/Architectures_and_Best_Practices/Cisco_Meraki_Best_Practice_Design https://documentation.meraki.com/Architectures_and_Best_Practices/Auto_VPN_Hub_Deployment_Recommendations https://documentation.meraki.com/Architectures_and_Best_Practices/Cisco_Meraki_Best_Practice_Design/Best_Practice_Design_-_MX_Security_and_SD-WAN/MX_Templates_Best_Practices Thank you, Peter James

Good Afternoon, One profile setting that already exists in the Apple MDM Protocol is forcing 'Automatic Date and Time'. However, it has not made its way in the Meraki profile choice list yet. Can we have this one added? --- Apple MDM Protocol documentation [Link] page 78. Thank you, Peter James

Hi @remixedcat, I used to work very closely to a compliance team who insisted their screens were dimmed to the lowest and everyone always wondered what they were looking at. So funny watching them scramble their windows closed when I remoted on silently from the windows session server to assist them with an IT ticket. Lesson...If you are trying to pretend like you are working, at least have a document open you can hot-key to 🙂 Thank you, Peter James

Hi @Synerix, Meraki did not depreciate this feature very well and there was little advice their support team could provide. We ended up with a big error on our live environment UI. See: https://www.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#IncognitoModeEnabled for the depreciated feature. Thanks for the heads up that the replacement (https://www.chromium.org/administrators/policy-list-3#IncognitoModeAvailability) might/does not work! Thank you, Peter James

Hi All, It appears Meraki forgot to give the 'Read Only' access to the 'Wireless Health' section of the Wi-Fi. I have found a workaround to this problem;. 1. Click on a network to view the Access points 2. Change the URL in the browser from "manage/nodes/new_list?timespan=86400" to "/manage/network_health" 3. Play nice when you only see 75% of authentication requests succeed 4. Email them to change the WPA encryption mode to 'WPA2 Only' 5. Watch the 75% raise to 95%+ 6. Show the customer you fixed a possible connectivity issue 6. Come back and Kudo this post Thank you, Peter James
