No, you are not able to leverage tags in order to upgrade individual devices in a network, it is going to upgrade all of the devices matching that device type within the Network. The idea for a segregated NW was just in case you wanted to do testing on an individual AP to evaluate firmware.

Hello Everyone! I wanted to kick this thread off by introducing myself to the Meraki Community. My name is CJ and I am a Technical Evangelist here at Cisco Meraki. Essentially, it is my job to train our Partners, Customers and internal Cisco Engineers as to how to best leverage Meraki. I have the best job in the world because they pay me to travel and talk about my favorite topic, Cisco Meraki. I've been working with Cisco for the last 8+ years, first as a partner and now with Cisco Meraki. I like to say that Meraki and I grew up together because Meraki was acquired shortly after I began my first position at a Cisco VAR; we both were assimilated into Cisco technology/culture at the same time. It was then that I truly gained an appreciation for the simplicity, beauty and intuition of the Cisco Meraki platform and that appreciation grows daily. A fun fact about me is that I love Buffalo Wild Wings!!! I have been to BWW's in 15 states and hope to see restaurants in all 50 states before I retire. Certain config items will be persistent when swapping MX/Z devices and others will need to be re-added. Some examples of configurations that will remain: - Subnets/static routes - Global Bandwidth limits & traffic shaping - L3 firewall rules Other items like AutoVPN will need to be reconfigured, as well as any features available on the 68CW not available on the Z1 (content filtering, Threat Protection, port settings, etc).

That is correct in regards to registration of devices. The Organization is going to be hosted in a Meraki cloud local to that region. Any sites that are located in China need to be in a China specific Organization so that they register to the China cloud, which complies with their local laws. The post above is referring to the MR52 which includes 2x1G uplinks. You are referencing the MR53 which has 1x1G & 1xMgig uplinks. In the case of the 53, you could choose to utilize both ports; however they would both then perform at 1G speeds. This would be useful if you did not have access to Mgig switching infrastructure. Either way, the aggregation is done on the switch side and not within the MR configuration.

Yes, the MS120-8FP will support 802.3ad link aggregation for up to 8 ports. All you would need to do is select the 2 ports connected to the MR52 and click aggregate. I am not aware of any way to keep the base settings/restrictions the same and Wallpaper different within a single profile. The best way to do this, in my opinion, would be to create your profile with restrictions/settings and then copy that profile 48 times, modifying the wallpaper setting in each copy. This will ensure that base settings/restrictions are the same and only the wallpaper is different. You could also tag each profile with the extension and then apply based on tags in case you ever switch out devices.

@PhilipDAth is correct, you would not be able to create a whitelist exception when using L7 category blocking on the MR. You would need to create rules blocking the individual business management domains, as opposed to blocking the entire category. Luckily there are only 11 sites total in that category (including SalesForce) so you would just need to create 10 individual rules to block those sites.

The big difference between ECMS1 and CMNA is the audience that it is geared towards. CMNA is a pre-sales focused course, so we spend more time going through individual products, features and deployment scenarios. ECMS1 is an operators based course, so the focus is going to be on practical use and implementation. From a lab perspective, ECMS1 features some work around troubleshooting, which you do not receive during CMNA. Overall, the courses do have some overlap, the differentiating feature is if you are going to be focused on design vs implementation/support.

No, you cannot 'upgrade' a license between different models and get a pro-rated time period, like when going from Enterprise to Adv Sec. You would need to purchase a new license for the MX84.
