Meraki MR34 for home network

I am new to Meraki product. I hope I can get an answer to learn from. Can I use Meraki MR34 as a router for home network?

Hi @MerakiMR34 ,

Not as a router, no. The MR34 is an access point only. It does not perform routing functions so you will still need an additional device for that.

I was also going to agree with @jdsilva , because you would not typically use an access point in this way.

But in this case, I think a Meraki AP could be used for your home Internet connection.  You can configure it for PPPoE:
https://documentation.meraki.com/zGeneral_Administration/Other_Topics/Support_for_PPPoE_on_Cisco_Mer...

or DHCP or static IP addressing.

You would need to configure the SSID to be in NAT mode.

https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/Client_Addressing_and_Bridging/NAT_Mode_with_Meraki_DHCP

The MR has a firewall and traffic shaping.

So yeah, I guess upon reflect, it is probably a very capable home router.  Note there are no LAN ports - so you would only be connecting via WiFi.

I did actually think about the NAT mode deployment, but I'm not sure I would actually use an MR in that way so I was hesitant to mention it. But I agree it could work.

MR also has no intrusion prevention or advanced security services.....

So while you potentially could I personally wouldn't
