No, both ends must have the same type of connection and the same speed.

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

I am asking if the SFP+ uplink is backwards compatible with 1Gig also or I can only connect 10G SFPs ?

I will obviously connect both sides with 1Gig. I am not going to connect 10G on one side and 1Gig on other side 🙂

If you put a sfp in the sfp+ slot you can

Take a look for supported modules

It will work.  If you have a 1Gbps SFP at both ends then you’re fine.  As @alemabrahao alludes to you can’t mix the SFP types at either end.

10 Gig SFP+ ports are backwards compatible with 1 Gig SFP's.  25 Gig SFP28 ports are backwards compatible with 10 Gig SFP+ and 1 Gig SFP modules.

100 Gig QSFP28 ports are backwards compatible with 40 Gig QSFP+ ports. 🙂
