It’s time for our March Member spotlight!

For this Member Spotlight, we chose to recognize @DarrenOC. In the past couple of weeks, he has been a posting fiend — so much so that fellow community members took notice and nominated him for his efforts! Since joining way back in 2017, he has written 67 posts, received 77 kudos, and authored 2 solutions. We've really appreciated his contributions across many of our boards, both providing helpful information and asking great questions 🙂

Congratulations!🏅 👏

Tell us a little bit about your background.

Ex Royal Signals, served five years in the Army working on a battlefield comms system. Left back in 2002 and entered the corporate world of IT by working with various Cisco Partners firstly as a field engineer then discovered VoIP and moved into pre-sales, design etc. Became a Cisco CCNP (Voice) and left permanent employment to start up UCcert which has been running for 11 years. We work mainly within Schools, Local Government and Hospitality sectors delivering Cisco and Meraki services and solutions. One of our long standing customers is also very active on here which is nice to see.

Father of 3, Isabel, Henry and Imogen. Also have 2 cats and 2 dogs both of whom are puppies. We’re a very hectic household.

What motivated you to start posting in the community and what keeps you coming back?

It’s a constant struggle to keep up with everything tech so communities like these are a great place to learn.  And in return they’re also a great place to give back.  Nothing better than receiving a Kudo or solving someones issue or query.

What are you most excited about for the future of networking?

Has to be coding and the world of API’s. I attended the Meraki DevNet Express in Barcelona last month and was astounded at the level of possibilities open by the world of API’s.

What’s your advice to folks looking to move to the next level in their Meraki / networking knowledge?

There’s a world of knowledge at your finger tips. Study, study and study some more. Use these communities for ideas and knowledge sharing and give back when you can.
