How to use a MX with Internet link and MPLS for Internet access

Hi There,   We are introducing a new MX in one of our brand network which is integrated with L2 MS switches accessing the internet and other branches via MPLS.   The challenge that I am trying to solve is to be able to keep using the MPLS as it is and only allow some VLANs to access the Internet via the Internet link.   Anyone please correct me if I am wrong. As far as I understand, the Internet link will need to be connected to one of the WAN ports (WAN1 or WAN2) and the MPLS link to any LAN port. It means that any Internet traffic will be directed via the Internet link and in order to access the MPLS network I will need to create a static route with a next hop pointing to the MPLS router. However, I still will need to find out how to make the MPLS connection to act as the primary Internet connection for some VLANs.   Another point to mention is that there is not Meraki device at the other end of the MPLS so the solution should not count in connecting meraki devices from both ends.   I hope above described make some sense. Anyway, please do not hesitate asking any extra of information in order to help you make it clearer and help me find out a way to solve this dilemma.   Cheers!!! Ricardo Bagnoli ... View more

Can I change an Ethernet port to act as a third Internet backup link?

Hi There,   This is the scenario.   I have an MX84 which ports 1 and 2 will act as primary and secondary internet links (WAN 1 and WAN 2). However, since internet links will not be installed by the commissioning day I have been planning to get a 4G temporary router plugged to port 3 in the MX and somehow get it configured as a second internet backup link (WAN 3) in case the 2 internet links fail.   Is it possible? Can anyone guide me through a similar solution?   Thank you very much in advance.   Cheers!!!, Ricardo     ... View more

Re: How can I get devices linked to particular VLANs using a common SSID?

Hi @ww,   Thanks for your answer.   It looks like the solution for sharing a common SSIDs will be using Group Policy / Per-Device Type VLAN Tagging as explained in the link you passed.   The disadvantage to that will be that I will have to link manually each device to the GP.   Cheers!!! ... Hi @MijanurRahman,   Thank you very much for your answer.   Unfortunately I should not have more than 3 SSIDs on an AP. If I tag each SSID with a single VLAN I will end up having approximately 14 SSIDs.   The option of tagging AP with different vlans as shown in your example will force me to buy more APs since I have devices running everywhere in the building and will not be able to use current APs for multi-propose.    Let me give you a bit more information.   I have segmented the network into several vlans with devices placed everywhere in the building. Some of these vlans require to be accessed wireless via AP. For sure, more than 3 vlans.   Another thing is that there are plenty of devices that are not managed in AD so I cannot use RADIUS for tagging vlans with devices. Therefore, devices managed in AD are only those used by internal staff such as PCs, laptops, etc. These devices will not be a problem since I could have a SSID tagging the Internal Staff vlan and there is no need of using RADIUS as vlans are not segmented by users but devices.   VLAN list:     Internal staff Voice / Telephony Video / Internal staff - TV video streaming and Video Conferencing Printers IoT 1 - specific devices for the businesses (many devices) Servers IoT 2 - specific devices for the businesses  (many devices) Video / customers - TV video streaming Customers - General poporse Mobility - Dedicated to internal staff wireless devices (Work-Related) IoT 3 - specific devices for the businesses  (many devices) IoT 4 - Building Systems - specific devices for the businesses  (many devices) Security cameras I hope this make sense and you can help me finding a way for better designing my WLAN.     Cheers!!! ... How can I get devices linked to particular VLANs using a common SSID?

Hi There,   Since Meraki documentation recommend to have up to 3 SSIDs by AP, I would like to know how I can get devices linked to particular VLANs using a common SSID?   For example, SSID Sample1 links devices with  VLAN10, VLAN20 and VLAN30 as shown below:  Device10 linked to VLAN10 via SSID Sample1 and Device20 linked to VLAN20 via SSID Sample1 and Device30 linked to VLAN30 via SSID Sample1? I hope that make sense.   Cheers!!! ... View more
