Hello SM Admins, One of our most common wishes for SM is quite simple: include the OS build number in our device inventory report. On macOS in particular, this is very useful as there can be multiple different OS build values for each OS version. For iOS and Windows the OS build usually matches with exactly one OS version (there are occasionally rare exceptions). However, knowing the OS build information can be time-saver as security alerts sometimes reference the build number – e.g. “10240” on Windows -- rather than the OS version. By providing this extra data we make life easier for admins who need to search on the OS build field as they try and identify potentially vulnerable systems. As of today, this information is now provided on the detail page of each device and as an optional field that one can add to SM’s Devices list view. Note that Android devices do not have a corresponding value for OS build so none is displayed. Keep the wishes coming. We can't answer them all, but we do value the feedback and enjoy improving the product knowing that we can always make it easier to use. Noah Salzman Product Manager for Meraki SM

Found and fixed. It turned out that the program could not find the camera intent. I'm not sure why that is unless this particular phone does not have a built in camera app. In any case, installing a camera app from the play store fixed the issue. Thanks

The issue is Apple has changed the way the Filevault payload is installed on Catalina. Under Systems Manager > Manage > Settings > (select your profile name) > Filevault Enable the following: CHECK Defer encryption until after reboot CHECK Defer enabling until logout 0 Maximum number of times users can bypass Make sure you check your device into dashboard to pull down the new profile configuration settings then give your device a power cycle.

Thanks - I tested this yesterday and it has worked for me on both VPP accounts as well. Normally this would be a minor problem but in these days of needing to provision apps to staff working remotely at home it became a critical problem for us, so it's a relief to see it fixed.

This could be wrong, but it sounds like an app that is normally used outside of kiosk mode is being suppressed or disabled. If those apps work without the kiosk mode, it just sounds like something that is normally used is now being blocked, and needs to be added or allowed. I'm not sure how you could determine what app it is trying to use, as I am just guessing, but if there is like a vpn or some check it does, that could be unavailable due to kiosk mode. To fix it, I would simply add the app that is needed to the kiosk screen (and add it to the system apps profile, as it will almost certainly need to be listed for it to work). I'm just starting to customize my own launcher, so I may come across more information...this just sounds like a similar situation when an app is needed to be 'allowed' for it to work. Good luck.

Howdy, macOS Education Payload is still in development, not released yet. One of the complexities here is fixing support for the "user channel" on macOS — it's not as simple as just creating a new payload. For the purposes of transparency, we are still probably a couple months away from completing this. In the webinar the presenter mentioned the ability to use Google as an authentication type, but I was under the impression that this was not the case: "The currently supported authentication types are: Managed: Meraki hosted accounts and Active Directory: Use your own Active Directory server. Trusted Access is not currently fully supported on networks using a Google (non-Meraki managed) Domain for Android Enterprise." It's not as much confusing as you think :). We have for different device use cases different SM networks/instances (name it how you like). The only thing you have to do is to assign the devices manually to the desired MDM (in this case network/instance).

Hi Noah, I don't really care how it is done as long as it is enforced and there is no workaround other than full disenrollment. Our Windows machines have both MDM (via settings) and agent installed. Say, if password is enforced by an agent and I have a policy checking for that, I don't want users to uninstall agent, disable passwords/pin codes and still be "compliant" on the Dashboard because MDM is unable to check whether password is present or not. Ideally, I'd prefer something similar to how OS X devices are managed. They don't require an agent for a basic security constraints we are after. Also, I understand that implementing full Bitlocker support takes time, is it possible to roll out a simple encryption status check and report it to the dashboard? It used to be there before.

OK, but what is meant with this point Use the certificates in the AnchorCerts property of the Profile to pin the host to the certificates. I apologize if I shall go to Apple with my questions, just trying to understand this.
