Does anyone know if the Cisco QSFP-H40G-CU5M= (40 gigabit direct attach cable) will work between the MS425 switches and the MS355 switches? It's a 10x cost savings if they do.

The first six characters in a MAC address are unique to particular network equipment vendors. This web site shows the identifiers for Xerox: https://www.adminsub.net/mac-address-finder/xerox This site shows that there are sixteen unique strings that are associated with Xerox. You can start typing in these partial mac addresses one at a time in the search feature on the Meraki dashboard (hit the / key to open the search bar) and see what devices show up. This is not ideal and could take some time, but it should show you most of the Xerox devices on your networks.

Here's a nifty new feature in the dashboard for everyone that manages multiple organizations. No matter which organization you are logged in to, hit the / key and you can type in a MAC address and it will show you if any devices match that address, across all of the organizations that you have access to. And you can click on the device and it will take you right to it, even if it is in another organization that you are not currently looking at. This is a great feature for MSP partners. Hopefully only one device will show up. I have seen on really large (1000+) Cisco phone deployments in the past where two phones had the same MAC address. This was a real pain to hunt down with traditional Cisco routers and switches.

Now Cisco Meraki needs to release a cost effective Layer 2 Mgig capable switch to go along with the new APs. It's difficult to convince customers that they need Mgig capable APs and the pricey Mgig capable MS3XX switches.

It sounds like you need to implement Quality of Service. There is probably a lot of contention for the internet bandwidth. I would start at the MX100 because it is the easiest of your network devices to configure QOS on. On the Meraki Dashboard go to Security & SD-WAN > Configure > SD-WAN & Traffic Shaping > Scroll Down to Traffic Shaping Rules on that page and pick enable default traffic shaping rules if it is disable. At the top of the page under Uplink Configuration, look at WAN1 and try to set the bandwidth settings close to what your actual internet connection download and upload speeds are. Maybe go just slightly higher than what they actually are, but not much. The MX100 is capable of supporting up to 750 megabits of throughput. The firewall needs to understand what kind of internet bandwidth it has to work with so it can make reasonable traffic shaping decisions. After you do this, do some testing on the network voice applications and see if this helps any. If not, then it's time to move on to the switches and eventually the wireless access points. This is not a quick task and it may take some time to tune the network correctly. Don't give up, you should be able to get QOS working well throughout the network and your network users will appreciate it. Let us know how it goes.

As a general guideline, it is recommended to plan for no more than two repeater access points attached to each gateway access point. Maximum mesh hops There will be a throughput reduction (~50% reduction) with each “hop” in a mesh. It is recommended that a mesh network be designed for no more than one mesh hop from the gateway to client device.

How is the Catalyst 2960 connected to the MX100? Does the 2960 have a gigabit ethernet uplink or are they limited to fast ethernet connections? If there is only a fast ethernet connection, this is going to be a bottleneck...

There is no authentication protection on the RTSP streams via the camera interface. You could filter it with an access list on a Meraki switch or a firewall. Only the second generation cameras models (MV12, MV22 and MV72) support RTSP.

Here is a behind the scenes look at the Cisco Meraki based network that is powering a recent project from the DTAGS Hub in Bixby Oklahoma. Most of the video for the project is going through this hub before it is sent on to be broadcast. There are two MX250 firewalls in an HA pair connected to two synchronous gigabit internet circuits. The network core switches are a stacked pair of MS350-48LP switches connected at 10 gigabits back to the MX250 firewalls in a redundant configuration. All of the firewalls and switches have redundant power supplies and redundant UPS units. Bright Systems, a Cisco Premier Partner based in Broken Arrow Oklahoma, designed, installed and configured the network infrastructure.

I just upgraded some MV21 and MV71 cameras to the latest 4.3 beta firmware and the result is impressive. It used to take 5 to 10 seconds before they would start showing live video and now that is down to just a few seconds. Well done Meraki software developers!

According to the specifications on the Meraki web site, the MX68CW has a 100 watt power supply. How about using a 12 Volt DC to 110 Volt AC inverter? You can get 200 to 300 watt inverters for less than $40.

Cisco has identified 14 wireless devices so far that are vulnerable to the new Kr00k vulnerability (CVE-2019-15126) https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/security/cisco-working-on-patches-for-new-kr00k-wifi-vulnerability/ No mention of any Meraki wireless equipment yet. Has anybody heard differently yet?

I figured out what the server address is for my Cisco Webex Calling cloud registered phone. Press the settings button on the phone. Press the button for phone information (6 on my 8845 phone) Scroll down and you will see the active server hostname (cms-vip-a-03-internal.na-prod1.huron-dev.com on my phone) Enter this as the hostname in VOIP Health. Be patient, it took a little while for it start showing up on the VOIP Health screen.
