Wifi Surveying

Hello,

I've been tasked with doing some wifi surveying at local parks using the Meraki MR74.

I just have a few questions and i'm hoping one of you can help me out.

The goal is to go from Root Ap to Mesh AP to the next Mesh AP.  Is this a possibility with the MR74 if I use 3 of them?

Is there a testing mode that the antenna can enter that emits a signal that I can use with a heatmapping software?

Thank you

Kind of a big deal

Yes, there is a site survey mode: https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/WiFi_Basics_and_Best_Practices/Conducting_Site_Surveys_with_MR_A...

I am pretty sure you want to design to not need more than one repeater hop.  You lose 50% of potential bandwidth with each hop.

If you need true wireless bridges for backhaul somewhere you will most likely want something not Meraki for those links because the MR can only "bridge" one VLAN.

Good luck

Getting noticed

Yes, you can hop twice, although the less hops you take the better.
