When to factory reset an MR?

Under what circumstances should one ever perform a factory reset on an MR? Is it normal troubleshooting tool or only under certain conditions? We have one in repeater mode that seems to intermittently lose its L3 link. At the distance Im not entirely surprised. Needs to be power cycled 2-3 times a day. I plan to wire it soon but was wondering if you all had thoughts on when a factory reset can help?

The only time I factory reset one was when I f...ed up and managed to configure it in a way it had no chance reaching the Dashboard again. 🙄
