New Wireless Overview Page Launching on Meraki Dashboard

Starting August 9, the Cisco Meraki Dashboard will offer a new wireless overview page that is designed to simplify the work of a network administrator and provide the information you need to troubleshoot and monitor your wireless network. The new wireless overview page provides key information about the connection and performance health of your network to quickly identify potential problems and proactively address them.

What’s New:

  • Provides an aggregate network level view of every wireless client and access point on your network - with a selectable timeline of the past 2 hours, day or week
  • Connection and Performance Health Scores to provide a quick view of network status
  • Single Click to drill down into the details within each metric

Using Meraki’s built-in machine learning model, Meraki Dashboard will provide expected values for each of the KPIs in the wireless network, acting as a baseline for any wireless network.

Connection Health metrics include failed client connections, time to connect, and roaming.  Performance Health metrics include latency, packet loss, and SNR.  Each individual metric may be selected to provide more granular detail to help in troubleshooting any issues within your network. The new page will also filter out the impacted clients and access points for a given metric that a network administrator wants to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of the issue.

The wireless overview page will also show some high-level client and usage overview below the connection and performance tiles. This will help network administrators gain some network-level stats for reporting and understanding their wireless network.

In order to view the new wireless overview page,  networks must be configured for 28.x and above firmware versions, as the information being pulled on the Wireless overview page is reported to the backend only from 28.x and above firmware versions. For mixed-mode networks, i.e. networks with a mix of newer and legacy APs which cannot run 28.x firmware version, the data would be inconsistent as not all APs are able to provide the right information required for the wireless overview page. Our recommendation is to continue using the Health tab for troubleshooting in such networks.

Starting 9th August, the new wireless overview page can be enabled on select networks by reaching out to your Sales team.

Correct - since the feature has a firmware restriction we are applying this on a network by network basis in the beta. Once released, this will be automatically turned ON for all supported networks.

For your information.

According to support, it is currently only enabled on a per-Network basis.
It cannot be enabled for the entire Organization. = Specify the target Network when requesting support.
