Meraki Z3C as standalone device without cloud controller - Possible or not ?

Hi,

I have a chance to buy Cisco Meraki Z3C for the price of a better home router, and I`m looking into that. The question is can it be used and managed as a standalone device without a Cloud subscription? I know it is not a typical home router, but I like Cisco devices and since it can be bought for the descent price that is the reason that I`m considering it. I would use it as a gateway and AP for my home network, so can it work like that without the purchase of licenses, and subscriptions ( Gateway and two SSID's)?  (I do not know what type of licenses are on it now or is there anything at all, and I can`t check that).

I have some CCNA level networking knowledge so config should not be the problem.

Thanx in advance for any help 🙂

No.

I thought so, but better to ask. Thanx for the answer!

Not only Z3C, all Meraki products are just boxes without a license. (Except Meraki Go)

https://documentation.meraki.com/zGeneral_Administration/Licensing/Meraki_Licensing

>Note: All Meraki products can work with either Per-Device Licensing or co-termination licensing type.

BTW, Meraki Go no longer requires Subscription Keys since October 7th, 2019.

Because it is for small business, there are restrictions on functions compared to regular Meraki products, but please consider it in some cases. Unlike Z3C, Meraki Go has a GX20 security gateway.
