MR56 on 802.3af

Hello,

Trying to pitch MR56 however it needs 802.3at but we are looking at 802.3af poe budget.

What functionality will we lose, until we get 802.3at?

Would they even show up in dashboard!

Thanks in advance.

I don't think it will work. That guess is based on these docs:

https://documentation.meraki.com/MR/Monitoring_and_Reporting/Low_Power_Mode

No low power mode exists for MR45 and MR55. I'd assume the same will be true for MR56.

I recently installed a MR45 with 802.3af.  I wouldn't recommend it.  The best I could get it to work is in a mesh with one AP have 802.3at.  I would try to find some cheap compatible injectors.

Kind of a big deal

I don't know.  At a guess it may well power down things like the scanning and security radio, may limit the number if MIMO channels (so drop back to 4x4 instead of being 8x8) and things like that.
