Chromecast 3 compatibility with Meraki WAPs

Hi all,

I'm about to send a technical proposal for a project where the customer is requesting to have Google Chromecast 3 and to manage it through my company's system.

In order to achieve this, the Chromecast must connect to the Meraki WiFi network and reach my server through a specific VLAN.

The technical team in my company has concerns about the compatibility of the Chromecast with the Meraki WiFi referring to connecting issues that might occur

So, anyone can confirm the compatibility of the Chromecast and the Meraki WiFi?

Does your solution only require unicast to work, or does it also need multicast?

If it only requires unicast it should work fine.

Chromecast multicast is "link local" by design (by using a TTL of 1) so Chromecast tells networking kit not to distribute its multicast packets to other VLANs.  The networking kit won't be able to override the TTL advertised by Chromecast.

The only time I've seen issues us when you use Meraki DHCP and connect the chromecast through there.
