You can use any switch. Having PoE would be nice to power the APs but is also not necessary as you can power them with external power supplies and/or power injectors.

But using Meraki Switches with Meraki APs give you a better visibility into your network as they integrate in the dashboard.

If you are asking whether Meraki switches (MS) are required for Meraki AP (MR) to work, the short answer is No.

But you do need to have a source of POE, which can either be Cisco Catalyst or Meraki MS.  You should pick a switch that supports 802.11at

Thanks Rupert for your quick response

If we can use the traditional switch that support 802.11at is there any limitation of using traditional switch with POE over Meraki MS in prospective on Meraki dashboard management like..config AP..backup.. or is it possible to configure Traditional switch with POE through Meraki Dashboard.

If we have the below network

Meraki Dashboard >  MX -->  Traditional switch with POE --> MR > End User.

You cannot configure a non-Meraki switch thru the dashboard. You would have to configure that the traditional way (cli, etc).

the obvious advantage of all-Meraki stack is that you’d get complete visibility thru the dashboard.
