MX - VRFs 26.1.2

Hi ,

So VRFs are finaly here on MX. I just deployed MX 26.1.2 on my C8121

What's new

  • Added support for configuring Virtual Router Forwarding domains (VRF) through the Early Access feature program.

So that's true , I can configure the VRFs from the page Organization -> VRFs

But according to my dashboard and documentation : https://documentation.meraki.com/SASE_and_SD-WAN/MX/Design_and_Configure/Configuration_Guides/Networ...

  • VRFs are supported on MX 26.1.3+ in Routed Mode.
  • 7 VRFs can be configured within a dashboard organization to be used in addition to the Default VRF.

So TL;DR , I can configure VRFs but not use VRFs at the moment , am I missing something ?

Is the limit 7 custom VRFs + default = 8  or  6 custom VRFs + default = 7 ? The messages are misleading for a non-native english speaker.

Limit is 8. If you attempt to add more it produce this.

Were you able to configure a VRFs on a vlan ?

I think I have to wait for 26.1.3 to test it out

Still waiting for the Product Team to open this up. Unsure if it's planned for 26.1.3 or it will be an Early Access menu option. Have a inquiry out and will report back.

VRF for WAN is now on the early access page and once enabled it now shows the VRF option on the VLANs page on my MX running 26.1.2.

@RaphaelL , @Ryan_Miles - is 8 a hard limit for just the MX or for a Network?

8 VRFs appears to be the hard limit for an org at the moment.

Did some proper testing this morning and found out 2 things.

1- Firewall logging tools is not VRF aware yet. Not listed in the FAQ

2- Intra-VRF - Inter-vlan trafic is not processed by the L3 Firewall. Not sure if this is expected or not , but I would assume that it is.
