Recovering licences from dead devices

Hi all,

I have some devices both student owned and school owned that have died.  This means I have some app and meraki licenses that are tied up with them.  Is there a way to retrieve these licences?  From what I can tell any commands I send from Systems Manager Dashboard are cued until the devices connect to a network.

If you remove/delete a device from the dashboard it does not take up a license anymore.

New devices should be able to show up in the dashboard.

That frees up the Meraki license but it's unclear if it frees up the license for paid apps. I've found that removing tags and letting the device sit for a while helps, but we don't always have access to the device to ensure that its connected to the network and receiving commands. An example is an iPad that recently got run over by a car (don't ask).

Yep, exactly. I am concerned about losing app licenses also.

That is good to know and definitely part way to a solution, I would like to know if app licenses come back too.

Has anyone found a definitive answer to this yet?
