Meraki Blocking Category

Hi everyone, my MX is blocking categories that are not in the Blocked website categories in my group policy. Has anyone had this kind of problem?

Thanks for the help.

What are the categories you're blocking and what website is it blocking?

Do you also have global blocking rules apart from the group policy ones? What's in those?

Anything in the security center event log?

@MeredithW could you move this topic to the MX forum?

Hello,

It is blocking in the Financial Services category, this is a bank site and this category is not blocked in group policy. The categories I have blocked are Adult and Pornography, gambling, games, nudity, open HTTP Proxies, Proxy avoidance and anonymizers, social networking, streaming media, violence, weapons and web based email

I don't use global blocking rules, the users get group policies through their AD group.

The security center event log shows me that Event type is Content filtering blocked URL and the details show me that category URL is being blocked.

Sometimes the website are in the wrong category , there is a tool in the content filtering section to test your URL.

If it is indeed misflagged , open a ticket and Meraki will contact their content filtering partner.

The category the tool shows me is the same as the log informs (Financial Services). I will open a case next to the support for verification.

Thank you all.

If the section where you say what categories to block there is a URL lookup tool.  Try using that on an affected URL to see what category it is reported in.

Another couple of possibilities apart from it being mis-classified; the site has been compromised or they are blocking you.
