This will hopefully make it possible to spread out the updates of a companies devices over a period of time.

 

I've had problems with companies Internet circuits being smashed over by all the Apple devices trying to upgrade at the same time.

Exactly. I put a note out to specifically not upgrade to iOS 11 and that I would push the update. I created a policy that looks for any devices that are upgraded to iOS 11 and locked them down with a configuration profile.

Also - Group Policies on Meraki wifi networks can also be used to block or throttle bandwidth for OS updates!

 

Under Network Wide>Group Policies:

Devices in Systems Manager can automatically be put on Group Policies using the Sentry Policies integration, here:
