A little Apple iOS MDM Hack; Reconnect to MDM quickly (without upgrading the iOS)

Hi All,

Another sharing moment 😀

If you remove the ability for the end user to factory reset a device or have it in Kiosk Mode and delete it off the MDM, then you lose all ability to control the device and have to restore it via iTunes which can be a lengthy process given the latest iOS version is downloaded/applied.

One way to speed up this process is to take up a backup of another device (or the same device) with the same model/iOS version and then restore that backup to the device that was previously disconnected. This additionally adds it back to the Meraki MDM.

This could be useful if you want to have a frozen testing kit.

Thank you,

Peter James

Another MDM hack for Linux users: run it in Wine. It is not great, not even good, but you can see if the device is online and run commands on it.
