Quick license question

Our renewal is coming up next year. If I do a 5 year renewal on my current equipment and for example 2 years down the road I replace a MS220 with a MS125 what happens to the remaining license on the 220?

Is it dead or can I true up to a 125 license? This makes it very hard to do multi year renewals.

If you buy a new switch you'll be able to convert the remaining time to the new switch type. That upgrade tool is not available to the public yet, but helpdesk can do it. What you can't do is add the remaining time to another switch that already has a license running.
