eSIM configuration on MG52 in Spain with Telefónica (Movistar)

Hello,

I am located in Spain and I am configuring a brand new Cisco Meraki MG52 (fresh out of the box).

I would like to use an eSIM provided by my operator, Telefónica (Movistar Spain). The operator has provided me with a QR code.

However, in the Meraki Dashboard I cannot find a clear option to manually add an eSIM profile using SM-DP+ address and Activation Code. I only see APN configuration settings.

After reviewing the official documentation, I only find references to eSIM usage with AT&T in the United States. In Spain, AT&T does not provide service, and my operator is Telefónica.

My specific questions are:

  1. Is manual eSIM profile provisioning (SM-DP+) supported on the MG52 in Spain?

  2. Is it possible to install a Telefónica/Movistar eSIM profile using the LPA manual activation format?

  3. Is the MG52 eSIM functionality region-locked or limited to specific operators?

  4. If not supported, is using a physical nano SIM the only recommended option?

Thank you in advance.

The MG52 eSIM is limited to AT&T (via the Jasper/IoT Control Center infrastructure).
Cisco explicitly states that eSIM activation relies on AT&T’s IoT Control Center (Jasper) and is available only for AT&T's specific IMSI range (310‑170).

I am not a Cisco Meraki employee. My suggestions are based on documentation of Meraki best practices and day-to-day experience.

Please, if this post was useful, leave your kudos and mark it as solved.

Thanks, this confirms my suspicions. I hope it will soon allow adding eSIM configurations from any carrier.
